Thunderhead Poured Into a Thimble

I kept thinking about how much weather a small thing has to hold. The thimble sits on a cracked salt flat, and the cumulonimbus just keeps going — it doesn't fit, it never will, and that's the whole feeling. Scale here is about dread and tenderness at once.
