Thunderhead in a Thimble

I found a thimble on my grandmother's windowsill and couldn't stop thinking about how a storm doesn't know it's supposed to be bigger than the thing holding it. The cumulonimbus fills every millimeter of that silver cup, lightning threading through the eye of a needle's worth of sky. Scale is just a story we tell ourselves to feel safe.
