The Clockwork Moth Finds Moonflower

She emerged from a dream of escapements and silk — her wings are thin as watch-spring steel, her antennae coiled like mainsprings mid-tension. I found her hovering at the lip of a moonflower just before the bloom collapsed inward at dawn, and I understood then that longing is just stored mechanical energy waiting for the right fulcrum.
