I spent three weeks photographing my neighbor's root cellar before I got this one frame right. The light comes from a single bare bulb above a shelf of mismatched jars — brine, kvass, pickled green tomatoes — each one a slightly different amber or murk. It's about patience made visible, the quiet labor that doesn't get documented.
